Simplicity and complexity are not necessarily polar opposites
  They can interact at different levels of a (perceptual) system
as well as the "inner and outer" complexity of sound

Simplicity leads to Complexity

Stochastic processes: micro-level unpredictability leads to macro-level perception of "coherency", e.g. density, loudness, texture

Auditory scene analysis: streaming simultaneous "strands" of sound

A balance between complexity and simplicity in both musical composition,  soundscape design
and bioacoustic habitats (ANH)

A soundscape composition may be grounded in a clear original recording
 and extend its complexity through processed elements (e.g. abstracted sounds)
and its relationships to "outer" social, environmental and psychological complexity
