Welcome to the Physical Volcanology Group

The Physical Volcanology Group, is a research group within the Department of Earth Sciences and concentrates on physical volcanology and the processes controlling persistently active volcanoes. Current research integrates the study of geophysical signatures with geochemical and remote sensing data to investigate precursory signals to volcanic activity and the mechanisms that trigger eruptions.

We are also an integral member of the Centre for Natural Hazards Research, the International Volcano Monitoring Fund (IVM-Fund) and the End of the Arc research consortia.
