Science Rendezvous Looking for Volunteer!

WHEN: Saturday May 11th at 10 AM 4 PM

Science Rendezvous is almost upon us!

Exhibitors and volunteer sign up will be at the Trottier Studio — to pick up their event t-shirt. Breakfast will be in RCB7100 at 9:00am for early birds and lunch boxes will be distributed at 12:00 also in RCB7100. Complimentary parking all-day at the East lot is provided.

The actual event runs from 11:00 to 3:00. We will need to stay around a little bit longer to finish cleaning everything up - so plan to be out of there by 4:00.

We have 4 areas this year. We are doing liquid nitrogen ice cream, of course. This will require the bulk of our volunteers. Matthew Brown will be the point person for this area.

We will also be doing the popular marshmallow models, using marshmallows and tooth picks. Priya will be the point person for this area.

New this year is a spherification demo. We will be doing something similar to this

Finally, we will be using the cucumber piano. This is a computer set up that allows us to demonstrate conductivity. John Canal will be setting this up prior to the date and Kelsey will be the point person for this area.

To volunteer contact Rebecca Goyan or John Canal or just show up the day of and sign in at Trottier Studio.

Board Game Social!

WHEN: Friday May 17th, 5:30–10:00 pm

There will be a board game social at the above date and time. We've lined up a number of games already, but everyone should feel welcome to bring more. We also will have a TV if anyone wants to bring a games console and some games to play. Note: This will be an alchohol free event, as it was easier to increase the focus on board games and allow us to do more socials this year. Food and non-alchoholic beverages will be provided.

Resource list for graduate students

The Chemistry Graduate Caucus has compiled a list of useful resources for graduate students in our department. Feel free to recommend additional resources to via our new social media accounts, or to Matthew Brown or Nicole LeGrow.
