Simon Fraser University and the Fraser Health Authority are extremely pleased to announce the launch of the “BC SUPPORT Unit Fraser Centre” at the upcoming Researchers’ Café on February 22, “How Fraser Health and Simon Fraser University are Moving Patient-Oriented Research Forward”.
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has funded the SPOR initiative across Canada and in British Columbia has committed funding of $79.96 million up until March 31, 2021.
Part of the BC SUPPORT Unit, the Fraser Centre will provide support services to all academic and health authority researchers working in the Fraser Valley catchment who are interested in conducting patient-oriented research. Patient-oriented research is defined as research that engages patients as partners and focuses on patient-identified priorities with the goals of improving patient experiences, health outcomes and the health system.
Key goals of the BC SUPPORT Unit are to:
1. Build capacity to conduct and implement high quality patient-oriented research in all regions
2. Increase the quality and impact of patient-oriented research across BC, and,
3. Ensure ongoing support for patient-oriented research in all regions of the province.
We invite you to attend the Café to learn more about this exciting new partnership between Simon Fraser and Fraser Health, how it will further patient-oriented research, and to meet the new Fraser Centre staff members who will be located both at Fraser Health and SFU Burnaby and Central City campuses.
