Magazine Layout
This magazine was a group project, but portions of the project required us to do some individual ideation and sketching. From there, we were able to combine different elements from our sketches into one master magazine layout. We then had to come up with topics of our magazine.
Ideation of topics, fonts, and title name were also important. So we brain stormed individually some topics that might be potential choice for our magazine layout. As well as choosing which fonts we would like to see. And lastly came the title and pictures.
We took advantage of the canvas group discussion to brainstorm topic ideas plus, we wrote down ideas for our own purposes. We also decided on body text font and title font. However we ran into problems deciding what type of font to use for the title and body text. Through countless reasoning as to why each of our ideas were viable, we came to a decision to agree upon a sans serif title to capture the boldness of a title and a serif body text to allow for legibility and readability.
When we finally put it together, we ran into complications such as, how much spacing we would have between the headings as well as where to put the paragraph breaks. As a group, its best to be able to present your opinion and provide a reason as to why your opinion could be considered. It can be easy to take over the project and just shut everyone else out, but then it wouldn't be a group project anymore. We weighed out everyone's opinion and from that determined what worked and what didn't as a group with no bias. We knew as a group we had to achieve a consensus with our layout decisions and because of that we took every issue that we faced without fear of fighting with each other.
