Server Down for 24 Hours
We'll need to take a little time out from GEN beginning 2 p.m. Friday, February 25 while our server moves to Simon Fraser University's Harbour Centre campus. We expect everything will be up an running again by 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Understanding Online Participation: How, why and so what?
GEN members are invited to brainstorm their needs and ideas for monitoring students' online participation. What data is useful for following learning progress and providing timely feedback to our learners? We will build on this discussion to understand the nature of online interaction and the design and benefits of tools to track and analyze participation. A summary from this seminar will inform the continuing design and development of prototype tools.
"Understanding Online Participation" will be facilitated by Cindy (Man) Xin, a Research Associate for the Virtual-U Project at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia. Her research focus is on evaluation models and assessment methods. Cindy has a MS degree in Instructional Science and is currently working on her Ph.D in Instructional Psychology and Technology.

With just a few days left in the February HTML for Educators seminar we are busy updating the "HTML Guide for Educators". This guide summarizes the issues raised in the seminar and is full of resources, design considerations, and tips, all contributed by our seminar participants. Check into the HTML for Educators seminar before the end of February to post your ideas for inclusion in the guide!
