Settled by the Huna Tlingit clan thousands of years ago after having been chased from Glacier bay it is now the largest Alaskan Native village.  The main industry is fishing, logging, and tourism.  The population of Hoonah is about 1200 permanent residents of which 70% are Huna Tlingit.  Icy Strait Point is located on the northeast corner of Chichagof Island.
