The efficiency rating is the primary factor that will determine the new furnace cost. The features manufacturers employ in the furnace dictate the system's efficiency, and therefore its cost, too.

Keep in mind that higher-efficiency furnaces employ advanced features that lead to a higher price tag, but much lower costs on the back end. The size or capacity of the system also dictates new furnace cost, as more efficient and larger furnaces generally cost more.
