Advancing community-centred climate action and innovation research
Since 2025, SFU Climate Innovation has launched $100,000 in annual seed funding to help researchers, students, and industry partners activate early-stage climate questions into practical, community-centred solutions.
Streams
Learn about each Seed Fund stream: Amplification Grant, Catalyst Grant, and Pollinator Award.
-
For researchers keen to build toward a major funding opportunity, the Amplification Grant supports interdisciplinary research teams to develop strong partnerships, convene collaborators and shape ambitious, community-centred climate research programs.
-
For research teams with an existing community partnership, the Catalyst Grant helps deepen co-design and co-creation around practical climate solutions. It supports interdisciplinary teams to strengthen collaboration, generate evidence and build momentum toward future funding.
-
For SFU graduate students attached to a Catalyst project, the Pollinator Award offers hands-on experience in community-engaged, interdisciplinary climate research.
Projects
Since 2025, SFU Climate Innovation has awarded seed funds for 20 projects to receive more than $240,000 in funding to advance community-centred climate research and innovation.
