WiCS hosts various technical events to help students develop technical skills and prepare themselves for co-ops/jobs. We not only host our own workshops, such as Python workshops and Github workshops, but also collaborate with companies to provide cool opportunities including office tours, networking opportunities, and resume reviews from industry professionals!

Orbis has been an invaluable supporter of WiCS over the past few years, and their recent invitation for a tour of their stunning office was an absolute highlight! We were thrilled to connect with inspiring women in tech at Orbis and engage in a captivating panel session. During the session, they generously shared insights into their company culture and offered invaluable tips to navigate the job search journey. It was an enriching experience that left us even more motivated and empowered to pursue our aspirations in the tech industry. This event featured a panel session with women in tech and small-group resume reviews, connecting our members with industry professionals from Orbis Investments and Amazon. Attendees were able to gain valuable insights into job market navigation, resume improvement, and overcoming barriers. The event also offered a unique opportunity to connect with these amazing professionals in small groups!

WiCS hosted a technical workshop to introduce students to Machine Learning!🤖 This beginner-friendly workshop helped students gain foundational knowledge about Machine Learning and get started with PyTorch.
💜 AMAZON DAY

During this full-day event, WiCS members had a chance to gain insight to the work, culture, and values of Amazon, learn how to make the most out of our opportunities, get 1-on-1 resume help, and hear from a panel of inspiring, driven women at Amazon. We also got to experiment with Machine Learning through DeepRacer! We programmed a DeepRacer car to travel along a track and raced each other. The day was a blast!

WiCS members got to learn about Telus and their internship opportunities. After the company info session, the Telus representatives shared tips on how to enhance your resume. We also had the chance to network and chat with them afterwards. <3
💜 TECK RESOURCES OFFICE TOUR

We had the opportunity to learn about what Teck Resources does and how they are using technology to greatly improve their work. We also got to network with professionals at Teck over lunch and tour around their office! Teck also hosted resume workshops and interview workshops that provided valuable tips and advice for our WICS members. <3
