Preparing your spring 2026 courses in Canvas Cloud

Canvas is getting an upgrade. Starting January 2026, all courses will run on Canvas Cloud, a Canada-hosted platform.
If you're teaching in spring 2026, here's how to get started:
Access your course shells
- Go to https://canvas-new.sfu.ca (temporary site until Dec. 2025).
- Credit course shells from goSFU/eTRACS will appear automatically on your dashboard—you don’t need to request one.
Move your existing content (if needed)
- To reuse content from the current Canvas, migrate it through
https://migrate.its.sfu.ca. - You can access step-by-step instructions on the How to Migrate a Course: Canvas Migration page.
Get support
- If you have any issues setting up your course, submit a ticket via Canvas: Request Help. A dedicated Canvas support team is ready to assist.
