The Workshop

The concept of 'the stranger' will be discussed from multiple perspectives, from Homeric epics to the 21st century. In order to understand how ’the stranger’ has been conceived, both in Greece and abroad, this workshop will examine the concept from several different chronological as well as methodological perspectives. Furthermore, examples from outside the Hellenic space will show the unique features as well as commonalities that exist between Greece, broadly conceived, and the rest of the world. It is the hope of the organizers that such an approach will yield new insights into the topic and provide the grounds for future discussion and collaboration between scholars from throughout the world.
