Dr Mandeep Pannu is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing at the University of the Fraser Valley, Canada. She holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from Coventry University, UK. Her research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and resilient distributed systems.
Her work focuses on the design of scalable AI-driven security architectures for Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber-physical environments. She develops machine learning frameworks for anomaly detection, intrusion detection, and adaptive threat modelling across networked infrastructures, including smart and connected ecosystems. Her research addresses system-level vulnerabilities such as data manipulation, sensor spoofing, coordinated cyber attacks, and integrity risks in distributed environments. In parallel, Dr Pannu applies large-scale web-crawling and data analytics methodologies to analyse emerging online threat ecosystems, including disinformation networks and dark web activity. This integrated approach bridges infrastructure security with online intelligence, strengthening resilience against evolving digital threats.
A central theme of her research is the development of technically robust, privacy-aware, and ethically grounded AI systems that enhance the resilience of critical digital infrastructure.
She currently serves as Chair of the IEEE Vancouver Section, where she leads regional initiatives advancing cybersecurity awareness, responsible AI adoption, industry collaboration, student research engagement, and inclusive leadership in technology. Email: mandeep.pannu@ufv.ca
