About the Speaker

Mark Leier is the author of Bakunin: The Creative Passion, and four books on labour history, most recently the second edition of Rebel Life, the story of a radical activist who became a police spy. He has worked as a construction labourer, bridge tender, short order cook, busker, printer, and since 1994, a historian at Simon Fraser University. His articles on history and social movements have appeared in the National Post, the Globe and Mail, and The Tyee, and he has given lectures and workshops for diverse audiences across Canada and the US.

About the interviewer: Baharak Yousefi is Head Librarian at SFU's Surrey Campus Library and a Director on the Board of the BC Libraries Cooperative. She received a Master of Arts in Women's Studies from SFU in 2003 and a Master of Library and Information Studies from UBC in 2007. Her research interests include feminist and community-led librarianship.
