Celebrating 50 years of SFU's Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies programSFU became the first university in Canada to offer a Women's Studies program and it is now celebrating its 50th anniversary. Geography 404: "The Geography of Gender" was first offered as a course in 1971. Since that time our course offerings have evolved. Our current Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies program focuses on bringing feminist, queer and intersectional understandings to the analysis of power. Let Burnaby’s Mayor and Council know why you support the gondolaThe Burnaby Mountain Gondola is effective. It’s better for the environment. It provides efficient year-round service, even when it snows. And the SFU community knows this—over 10,000 people took Translink’s survey and showed support for the gondola. We’re closer than ever, but our local elected representatives need to hear from you before a final decision is made. |
Operational UpdatesCOVID-19 Safety PlanningFaculties and departments are reminded that they are responsible for creating COVID-19 safety teams to provide oversight for safe conduct and compliance around access to campus and approved COVID-19 site Safety Plans. Regular inspections within areas should be conducted and documented. Please refer to Appendix G of the SFU Go Forward Plan for additional information. Apply for an Indigenous Digital Media GrantSFU researchers, creators and makers are encouraged to apply for up to $10,000 in funding to cover costs associated with the development of Indigenous digital resources. Whether you're working on a film or starting a project to digitize existing media, send in your application before Feb. 26. Check out Creative Collective's SAAM Consent Playlist and Art MosaicThis year, Creative Collective supported Sexual Assault Awareness Month by curating a consent playlist and creating an art mosaic made by students, staff and faculty. The session includes a Q&A opportunity.
