TOM NAULT NAMED UNIVERSITY REGISTRAR AND STUDENT ENROLLMENT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Tom Nault, an experienced post-secondary educator and administrator, has been appointed as SFU’s new registrar and executive director of student enrollment. Nault is currently the university registrar and secretary to senate at Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador. He begins his SFU appointment on July 5, 2021.

SFU PROFESSORS AWARDED FELLOWSHIP FOR CHINESE HISTORY AND CULTURE RESEARCH

Irene Pang and Darren Byler of SFU's School for International Studies have won the American Council of Learned Societies’ Early Career Fellowships within the Luce/ACLS Program in China Studies. The $50,000 fellowship supports innovative research on China's histories and cultures, conducted by outstanding pre-tenure scholars.

BUDGET COORDINATOR LULU BERSAMIRA CRUNCHES THE NUMBERS WITH CARE

In this installment of People of SFU, meet Lulu Bersamira, who brings a passion for finance and a ‘beautiful heart’ to her role as budget coordinator for SFU Lifelong Learning.

 

OPERATIONAL UPDATES

The Chancellor’s Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to an individual or organization in recognition of their outstanding contributions to SFU and its community. If you know of someone who has provided extraordinary service, commitment, innovation and/or leadership to the university, submit your nomination by Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Starting on June 7, 2021, books placed on hold at the SFU Library can be picked up using the self-service checkout at Bennett Library. Expanded pickup hours will align with Bennett Library’s study hall hours, Monday–Friday, 1 p.m.–5 p.m.

Due to required structural updates, South Campus Road will be closed to all vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian traffic between Gaglardi Way and Tower Road. The detour route will be University Drive East and will be in effect starting May 25.
