CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

A comprehensive introduction to the study of politics and government for both political science majors and students specializing in other disciplines. The course will explore the major concepts, methods, approaches and issues in political science, as well as the primary components of government structure and the political process. Students with credit for POL 101W may not take this course for further credit. Breadth-Social Sciences.

Ce cours vise à initier les étudiants et les étudiantes au monde merveilleux de la science politique. Nous allons explorer les fondements de la discipline, présenter les institutions politiques et l’exercice du pouvoir et enfin découvrir les différents types d’acteurs qui interviennent dans le jeu politique. Le modèle canadien servira souvent à illustrer les théories et les concepts, mais nous ferons aussi recours à la comparaison afin de saisir les différences et les similitudes entre le Canada et d’autres pays.
