Overview

A small wire loop emits waves received by an AM radio.

Details

Equipment

  • [1] AM radio
  • [1] Lantern battery
  • [1] Banana cable
  • [1] Insulated alligator clip

Classroom Assembly

  1. Attach the banana cable to one terminal of the battery using the alligator clip.
  2. Tune the radio to a quiet part of the spectrum.

Script

  1. Turn on the radio.
  2. Momentarily touch the loose end of the cable to the battery's unclipped terminal.
  3. Turn off the radio.
