Ben Ashby
Ben is the Scientific Director of PIPPS. He is a mathematical biologist interested in the epidemiology and evolution of infectious diseases.
He uses mathematical models to study how pathogens spread through populations and how key disease-related traits such as infectivity and virulence evolve. He is also interested in how different public health interventions can affect pathogen evolution.
In addition to his core research interests, Ben is passionate about public engagement and runs workshops for teachers and students to learn about the mathematics that underpins disease transmission and evolution.
