Biography

Ashley (she/her) is a Masters student in Resource Management (MRM) student at Simon Fraser University (SFU). She graduated in 2020 with a B.A. in Political Science and a Diploma in Crisis Management & Negotiation Mediation Decision Making while studying in Europe with SFU’s NATO Field School.   

Ashley’s research interests include marine renewable energy, blue economy, ocean equity, coastal communities and marine life. The overarching goal of her thesis research is to examine the impact marine renewable energy sources (tidal energy) have on coastal communities and marine life such as humpback whales to influence future tidal energy policies  

When Ashley is not studying, working at BC Hydro or volunteering at BCCIC’s Climate Change Branch, she can be found paddleboarding, scuba diving, kickboxing or at yoga.
