Recruiting leading international researchers

The Government of Canada is investing $1.7 billion in the new Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs of Canada to recruit internationally renowned researchers with expertise in the Government of Canada’s eight strategic priority areas to address national and global challenges. These include quantum, cybersecurity and AI, cleantech, community and climate resilience, health, and food security.

Leading researcher recruited to advance fusion energy

Internationally renowned applied mathematician Yingda Cheng joins SFU in 2027 as the inaugural Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair of Canada in Advanced Digital Technologies for Fusion Energy. Cheng is amoung the first round of appointments under the Canada Global Impact+ Research Talent Initiative.

SFU researcher Caroline Colijn was recruited back to Canada from the UK when she joined SFU in 2018 as a Canada 150 Research Chair in Mathematics for Infection, Evolution and Public Health.
