Provide your input: Search for SFU’s next VP, Research and International

Professor Dugan O’Neil is currently serving as SFU’s Vice-President, Research and International pro tem for one year, with his term ending on June 30, 2021.

In accordance with the procedures set out in policy GP29 – Search Committees for Vice-Presidents and Associate Vice-Presidents, a search committee led by President Joy Johnson has been established and is currently undertaking a process to select SFU’s next Vice-President, Research and International.

The Vice-President, Research and International, advances SFU’s research mission and international strategy, supporting SFU faculty and students as they conduct cutting-edge research that harnesses new ideas and innovations for the benefit of society. They will lead the development of strategic research initiatives, such as SFU’s Big Data initiative and SFU’s Community-Engaged Research initiative, as well as nurturing collaborations at the local, national and international levels to foster a seamless continuum of knowledge generation and knowledge transfer across diverse sectors.

You are invited to participate in this important process and share with the Committee the qualities, attributes and types of experience you feel the successful candidate should possess. 

Here is how you can participate:

  • Online Questionnaire: Share your feedback anonymously until November 20. Take the survey.
  • Written submission: Send a written submission directly to the committee by November 20: vp_search@sfu.ca 
  • Virtual Forum: Join us for a virtual forum from 1-2 PM on Wednesday, November 18. Visit the event page for more information.

Your feedback will help shape the position description and candidate profile, documents that will be used in the recruitment and evaluation of candidates.
