Welcome Day is a celebration for all new undergraduate students starting at SFU this Spring. Join us on Tuesday, January 6, 2026!
Look for the invite and more details in your SFU 101 course and our Get Started email in December!
Are you a new undergraduate student coming straight from high school? Are you transferring from another post-secondary institution? Are you an international student? We have a whole suite of orientation activities for you!
It will be an opportunity to:
- Meet classmates, staff and others who will be a part of your new community
- Learn about the SFU community
- Find out more about your program of study, and more
All new SFU undergraduates are invited – and encouraged – to attend Welcome Day! Your invitation and more information about Welcome Day will be included in SFU 101 in late November.
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact orientation@sfu.ca.
Welcome Day is a part of Month of Welcome. Be sure to check out all the events and activities happening across SFU throughout the month of January!

- Welcome Day helps new students transition into the SFU community in a fun and engaging way. You'll have the chance to meet your peers, faculty, and staff at SFU. You get to explore and find your way around campus in preparation for your first day. And you will learn more about how to get involved in the community and get insight and tips from your HIVE leaders on what it’s really like being a student at SFU.
Do I have to RSVP to attend Welcome Day?
- Yes! Your RSVP helps us prepare for your arrival on Welcome Day and lets us know if you require any special dietary or accessibility accommodations. Be sure to check your email to your invite and RSVP by December 24!
What should I bring with me on Welcome Day?
- As portions of the day may be taking place outdoors, make sure to dress accordingly! We also recommend that you come prepared with any questions that you might have for us.
