Roadmap to start of Spring 2023

Start University Prep

  • Go to University Prep, Step 1 to learn tools for course exploration and discover the range of academic opportunities available to you.

October

Get ready to enroll

  • You will receive an email sent to your non-SFU email address indicating that your SFU computing ID is ready for activation.
  • Complete University Prep, Step 2 to prepare for enrollment and learn how to build a balanced schedule, choose classes using goSFU, and connect with an advisor.

November

Enroll and submit final documents

December

Learn how to find your people and get involved

  • Get connected by participating in your HIVE and start SFU 101 to get familiar with all the information needed to successfully start your first term at SFU!

MOW
Month of Welcome (MOW), which will be happening throughout the month of January, celebrates the start of the term, connects you with fellow students, and gets you excited to explore all that SFU has to offer you.

December 13

Welcome Day
Let us welcome you and introduce you to your new SFU community on Tuesday, January 3 during Welcome Day—a fun, interactive, and important step in your transition to university. This will be a big milestone event you'll attend with your HIVE group!

November 29

SFU 101 is now live on Canvas!
Complete this transition course to learn about university life and meet other new and current students from your faculty.  You’ll also learn how to participate in the variety of welcome activities including Welcome Day! In order to gain access to the course you must activate your SFU computing ID.

Meet your HIVE!
The HIVE Program will place you in a small group with other new students from the same faculty. HIVEs are led by HIVE Leaders who are seasoned SFU students—usually in the same faculty as you. This will be your opportunity to connect with peers and make connections prior to starting your courses. You can access your HIVE group through SFU 101.

October 18

University Prep: Step 2 is now available on Canvas!
This faculty specific course will help you prepare for course selection, scheduling and enrollment! In order to gain access to the course you must activate your SFU computing ID.

Join our SFU 2023 New Undergrads Facebook group. Post an introduction, meet other students, and discover our community.

Activate your computing ID! 

After you accept your offer of admission by paying your admission deposit, you will receive an email to your non-SFU email address indicating that your SFU computing ID is ready for online activation.  Learn more

MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your SFU account, and it protects your account even if your password is compromised. MFA enrollment is required for students. Secure your account

MICROSOFT 365

Microsoft 365 is a collection of productivity tools that includes the Office apps along with collaboration services like MS Teams and OneDrive. All faculty, staff, and students are eligible to install Office apps for free.
