Having a typical e-commerce storefront as a thrift store is hard because you never have two of the same items.

Listing each individual item takes a lot of time - whether it's generating descriptions, taking pictures, or establishing price points.

Even if you do sell online as a thrift store, there's a chance that the item could have already sold in person so you would have to refund the buyer who just purchased the item online anyway - leading to an inefficient customer experience.

But, by not selling online the opportunity costs are much greater.

Thrift stores miss out on the online secondhand market that is set to grow 69% between 2019 and 2021. Thrift stores lose out on meaningful traffic from their e-commerce storefronts, all while continuously piling up donations - leading to bottlenecks and inefficient inventory turnover. At scale, this can lead to thousands of dollars in missed revenue, alongside an increase in costs.

Thrift.so is an e-commerce platform that helps thrift stores list, sell, and manage their inventory effortlessly - serving as an additional, scalable selling channel. We allow employees to list and sell their items instantly by just taking a photo - meaning that we'll automatically generate the title, description, and price point for you. And because listing is so quick, this allows for thrift stores to turnover inventory quicker.

As soon as something is sold on Thrift, we don't charge the buyer right away. Instead, Thrift.so would confirm that the item is still in store, and charge the buyer once we're sure the order can be fullfilled.
