These decisions will be made based upon the information provided in the application and executive summary. Business model and progress to date including prototypes, initial customers and/or revenue and future plans will be considered.

Learn the key ingredients in perfecting your pitch. For Venture Prize competitors, this is a great opportunity to improve your pitch and get valuable feedback prior to the preliminary pitch-off. This workshop is free and open to the public.

Budget from the Bottom-Up Workshop

The Budget From the Bottom Up Workshop is designed to help you understand, create, and define your company’s financial outlook on the basis from the ground up. Bottom-Up means analyzing and combining each key activity or process to generate the bigger picture. No prior knowledge in finance or accounting required. This workshop is free and Venture Prize competitors are encouraged to attend.

We are organizing pitch practices open to folks at any experience level who are looking to learn from / practice their pitching, and network with like-minded people! It is also a great opportunity for Venture Prize competitor to prepare for your preliminary pitch-off. Sign up and enjoy the pitch social nights, snacks provided!

Idea Prize Preliminary Pitch-Off

Great startups are built around big vision! The Venture Idea Prize is given to the individual/team demonstrating vision for a great idea for a venture, and setting the stage for turning their idea into a viable opportunity. This award is judged on the quality of both the idea as well as the plan for carrying it out, not necessarily the current business results.  The winner of the award will be announced during the 12th Annual Coast Capital Venture Prize Awards Reception.

Competitors will receive further information regarding the Idea Prize Pitchoff via email.

This is a closed pitch room. 

Monday, Mar. 13 - THURSDAY, Mar. 16

Venture Prize Preliminary Pitch-Off

The top two teams in each category (nine teams in total) from this round will progress to the final pitch-off competition.

Competitors will receive further information regarding the Venture Prize Pitchoff via email.

This is a closed pitch room. There will be a holding room available for competitors waiting to pitch.

Idea Prize Finals 

Time: 1:00-5:00pm Pitches
           5:00-7pm Networking event
Location:  Innovation Plaza, SFU-Surrey

The top Idea Prize finalists present their final pitch in person before a panel of judges at the SFU Innovation Plaza within SFU Surrey. Pitches will run from 1 - 5 PM followed by networking from 5 -7 PM. The Idea Prize winner will be later announced at the Venture Prize Awards Ceremony & Reception on April 18.

Awards Ceremony

Time: Doors at 5:00pm (invite only)

Award winners of the 12th Annual Coast Capital Venture Prize will be announced and celebrated at an invite-only reception April 18th!
