Spotify

Starting with observing and analyzing Spotify’s design patterns and interaction patterns, we conducted interviews and surveys based off of its intended audience. From the user research, we located issues and potential opportunities which can be solved with a new function. While designing for the live queue-list function, we implemented Spotify’s branding, colour scheme, design patterns and interaction patterns. Some of the patterns adapted include the stroke weight used in icons, in-app gestures, and interface layout.

Spotify is a well-developed music application, and having to work with Spotify made it very difficult when it came to creating a new function that is yet to exist but would still be functional. Because Spotify has a collaborative playlist, we had to create the live queue-list distinct from the already-existent function.

Through studying the collaborative playlist and interviewing more users, we we able to pin point some main issues as many of the users we interviewed did not know about the collaborative playlist function.

My main role in this project was to generate ideas for a new feature within the well-developed app, design interface, and create content and deck design.

Creating of this project included creating scenarios for when it would be used.
