Description
SFU serves as the International Secretariat to the China Council for
International Cooperation on Environment and Development, which was
established in 1992 as a high level international advisory body with
the purpose to further strengthen cooperation and exchange between
China and the international community in the field of environment and
development. Phases I to III have already been completed.
Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries include Chinese, Canadian and international communities
for whom improvements to Chinese global environmental management
will have a positive and lasting impact.
Results
- improved environmental management and sustainable development policies, regulations and practices in China reflecting Chinese and international commitments to reduce global environmental impacts on development.
- Chinese senior leaders, policy-makers, and the public have an increased understanding of environment and sustainable development issues advocated by the CCICED, including gender equality perspectives.
