Description:

Environmental Geoscience is a branch of Earth Science that examines the relationship between people and their geologic habitat. There will be an emphasis on topics that relate to British Columbia.

Course Topics
  • Introductory concepts: human interaction with the geologic environment
  • Terrain types and terrain maps
  • Natural hazards and their mediation: mass-movements, volcanic, floods, earthquakes
  • Terrain analysis and the forestry industry
  • Groundwater utilization
  • Environmental geochemistry and impacts and consequences of resource extraction
  • Urban geology
  • Global change and its affects
