Description:
Environmental Geoscience is a branch of Earth Science that examines the relationship between people and their geologic habitat. There will be an emphasis on topics that relate to British Columbia.
Course Topics- Introductory concepts: human interaction with the geologic environment
- Terrain types and terrain maps
- Natural hazards and their mediation: mass-movements, volcanic, floods, earthquakes
- Terrain analysis and the forestry industry
- Groundwater utilization
- Environmental geochemistry and impacts and consequences of resource extraction
- Urban geology
- Global change and its affects
