Description:

Field Geology II provides instruction in basic geological field methods. Students examine exposures of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock and combine their observations to form geological maps, sections and diagrams. Emphasis is placed on interpretation of map patterns and geological features in terms of geological processes and environments. The field camp will be held at the end of April and beginning of May for 10-12 days. Meals and transportation to and from the field camp are provided. Students must provide their own outdoor clothing, hand lenses and mineral identification kits. Field camp is preceded by a few lectures in March, the dates of which will be determined in January.

Registrants are asked to contact the instructor by email in the first week of January (dthorkel@sfu.ca).
