Project Design and Outline
The major roadblock for this project was having a good outline.
This outline was the map of where the project needed to go. Without
it we would be doing analysis without a purpose or a goal.
The outline is as follows:
Layer File or Data |
ArcGIS or IDRISI |
Comments |
DEM |
IDRISI |
The analysis of the DEM required many different modules
to determine where the North Shore had pockets of flat land
large enough to house a new soccer field. |
Land use (2 different sets with multiple
layers each) |
ArcMap |
Land use required analysis like clip, buffer and digitizing.
The purpose was to look at the results supplied by IDRISI
and remove all locations that have fields already and that
have other factors that make them a poor choice. (example:
a river that goes through the location or preexisting development.) |
Potential Sites |
IDRISI |
Once we have cut down the number of flat land areas to actual
potential sites (once constraining factors are taken into
account) we must look at the details of where these new sites
are located. |
This was how I kept the project on track. It is good to know
where you are going with the analysis. The next pages will expand
this in more detail of the modules and actual computations that
were done.
