Sensitive Ecoregions
B.C. has many areas that are deemed as ecologically sensitive whether it includes endangered animal or plant species or ecosystems. These areas need to be excluded from suitability considerations. The sensitive ecoregions shapefile was downloaded from the LRDW, displayed in ArcMap, and projected from BC Albers to Nad 1983 UTM10n. From there, the projected shapefile was rasterized, changed into ASCII format and imported into IDRISI. Resolution was maintained at 1065.868 and the columns and rows were changed to match those of the BC DEM. In IDRISI, the image was reclassed to produce a Boolean image. The macro model is as follows:
