Spatial Analysis

All the factors were placed into the WEIGHT module in order to determine factor weights. Weighting was favoured moreso with population density rather than distance from roads/highways or aspect. The resulting pairwise is as follows:

The eigenvectors from the pairwise are as follows:

The eigenvector of weights is :

pop_den_fuzz : 0.7514
roads_fuzzy_utm10n : 0.1782
aspect_fuzzy_utm10n : 0.0704

Consistency ratio = 0.03
Consistency is acceptable.

The outcome of the MCE is as follows:

There are a number of possibilities in B.C. to locate a potential ski resort according to the 7 criteria and 3 factors presented. The output in IDRISI however, resulted in one pixel locations that were too small to see. In order to see the areas as well as give them weight, I transferred the raster file into ASCII and imported it into ArcMap where a visual scale of suitability can be seen. The suitability index is only between 51 to 63 (on a scale of 0 to 255), likely resulting from few factors and many Boolean criteria. Trading off of factor weights may also be evident as some "suitable" areas are in locations they should not be (ie, sensitive ecoregions).
