The Human Rights Office at SFU

Providing confidential advice and support

The Human Rights Office (HRO) is a welcoming space that provides SFU students, faculty, and staff with advice and support on human rights. We believe that everyone should be empowered to live, work and learn fully, free from discrimination and discriminatory harassment.

Consultations

The Human Rights Office Director offers consultations to students, faculty and staff who want to discuss their human rights-related concerns and receive impartial, confidential advice regarding a specific situation. Through these consultations, the HRO Director can help submit complaints to the university if deemed necessary.

Education

The Human Rights Office offers a range of educational guides for students, faculty and staff to help educate the SFU community on issues related to human rights and conflict resolution. The guides address topics such as the Human Rights Policy and Complaint Process, accommodations, discrimination, and guidance on pronoun usage.
