Andy Gavel, the film director, Simon Roy, the film illustrator, and Veselin Jungic, who co-wrote the story and produced the film, got together to celebrate the release of "Small Number and the Salmon Harvest" animated film.

A group of Math Catcher volunteers met to prepare for the next week's SFU Math Camps.

We need the help of people like you to continue this program. We are very lucky that this year there is an unprecedented opportunity for your donations to be matched and leveraged. The Dean of Science will be matching donations this campus campaign, the Math Department will be matching donations to Math Catcher and an anonymous donor has recently stepped forward to match donations during the campus campaign as well (this great news hasn't yet been shared with the rest of the faculty!). That means that if you donated $250 to Math Catcher, your donations will be quadrupled and mean $1,000 will go to Math Catcher. Math Catcher operates on a budget of just over $20,000 a year so if we can raise just $5,000 we can ensure that the program will be funded another year. What's more, you can make a pledge to Math Catcher over 3 years and the amount you commit will be matched immediately.

I believe in this program myself and will be directing my Campus Campaign donation to Math Catcher. I hope that you will consider making a contribution as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. Also, I do suggest that you act quickly if you would like to contribute. As I mentioned, the rest of the campus community has not yet heard about the anonymous donor who is committing to match up to $50,000 in donations during the campus campaign and I expect that money, and the Dean's $49,000 in matching to be used up quickly. We wanted to give those who might be interested in Math Catcher an early notification to ensure that if you donate it will be quadrupled.
