The Adventures of Small Number were presented to the participants of the CMS-PIMS Math Camp on the SFU Surrey Campus. More than 50 high school students followed Small Number in his exploration of mathematics.

The Nisga'a version of the animated film "Small Number and the Old Canoe" has been completed! Ms. Edna Nice from the Nisga'a Nation wrote, "It’s so amazing to see and hear the story come to life through Nisga’a language, very emotional!"

Two members of the Math Catcher team, Stephani Monkman and Veselin Jungic, volunteered to help Alejandro Ercikson with his presentation at the Vancouver 2012 MakerFaire. Alejandro's booth was a great success. Hundreds of people of all ages enjoyed making tensegritis and hexasticks or just playing with Alejendro's creations that were at the display. Congratulations, Alejandro and thank you for your continuing participations in the Math Catcher Program!

Stephani Monkman, Alejandro Erickson, and Veselin Jungic visited N'Kwala School, Douglas Lake IR 3, B.C. We met with two groups of students who enjoyed watching Small Number's adventures, asking Stephani about studying at SFU, and building tensegritis.

The Sliammon version of the second Small Number story has been included in the Sliammon language segment of the First Voices website: http://www.firstvoices.com/en/Sliammon/story

Oshele from the Sliammon Nation, describes the project in the following way, "This is not a traditional Sliammon story but one that could be told in any First Nations communty. The story appealed to us because of it descriptive language and presented a challenge to translate. The story also has a math focus and we hope to encourage teachers to use it."
