Description
CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:
A comprehensive introduction to the Japanese language providing basic oral and written communication skills through an emphasis on vocabulary, grammar, and culture. The three Japanese writing systems will also be introduced (Hiragana and Katakana for production; some Kanji for recognition only). Students with previous knowledge of Japanese should not enrol in this course without consulting a Japanese instructor.
COURSE DETAILS:
This course is organized into 13 one-week modules. Its aim is to develop the four basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), with each lesson focusing on a basic grammatical structure. Students are required to complete weekly tasks, including written assignments that emphasize reading and writing.
There will be three oral recording assignments and Blackboard Collaborate interviews. There will be a three-hour paper-based written exam at the end of the course.
