Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

An approach to the elements of acting for non-theatre performance majors. Work will include development of individual powers of expression - vocal, physical, intellectual, imaginative, and emotional. Students with credit for FPA 150 may not take this course for further credit.

COURSE DETAILS:

This course is for students who would like to be introduced to some basic principles of acting technique. It will include vocal and physical training, and Theatre games designed to build awareness of space and a sense of ensemble. Each student will have the chance to learn and perform one contemporary monologue and one two-person scene. No previous acting experience required.

  • Attendance and Punctuality 25%
  • Willingness to work in a group setting 5%
  • Willingness to take risks 5%
  • Monologue 25%
  • Scene 25%
  • Short analyses of 3 local professional Theatre performances 15%

Reading materials will be provided by the instructor.
