Prerequisites:One of MATH 152, 155, or 158, and either EDUC 401/402 or corequisite EDUC 403.
Focuses on teaching secondary school mathematics. Students explore mathematical learning, their own mathematical thinking and curriculum; and plan mathematical instruction within a consistent framework using appropriate instructional materials and methods. Quantitative.
This course is designed for prospective and practicing secondary school teachers who wish to engage with and explore the fundamentals of the learning and teaching of mathematics.
COURSE-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GOALS:
Upon completion of the course, students will become familiar with the realities of mathematics learning and teaching by reflecting on their own learning experiences. They will also feel more at ease with the subject of mathematics and be able to deal confidently with the prescribed mathematics curriculum through gaining a practical sense of how it unfolds in the classroom.

There is no midterm or final exam for this course. Grading breakdown is tentative and subject to change. More information will be provided in the first lesson.
Regular and punctual attendance and active participation in class activities (including group work and whole class discussion) is expected and mandatory.
