Intro & Re: Building Evacuation

Intro: I'm an Amateur Radio Emergency Coordinator in Toronto, and
work at Seneca College. I am not involved with Seneca's emergency
planning; however, Seneca is a designated evacuation site in case of
a nuclear generating station 'situation', so I would be sent home as an
employee, and immediately return as a coordinator. I also hold the
college ham radio station licence VE3SEN.

This is not really an official policy, but here's what I try to do:
We have a 2-stage alarm: a slow pulse means all activity should
cease, and a fast pulse means evacuate. During the first stage,
students working on computers are encouraged to save their work.
When the evacuate signal is given, I close my office, go to the
breaker panel, and kill the power to all the classroom computers. It
works!
I don't think we have a problem with employees, but the above
'encouragement' could be extended to offices as well.
