About
Easy as 1, 2, 3! The TechBytes Program provides students in IAT and TECH courses with software & technical support delivered by our qualified Technical Peer Educators (TPEs). They were just like you once, they know what crunch time means, what software overload feels like, and they are here for you now! In short, they are your colleagues and they offer technical aid to any students in need. The program has three major components:
1. One-on-one Appointment with TPE's:
Are you struggling with your technical assignments or are you a power user and have advanced software questions? If the teachers or TA's cover the materials way too slow, too fast or not at all, then book a consultation with a TPE to obtain extra step-by step help! Check out our TPE qualifications as you can choose who to speak/reserve time with to best serve your question(s). Appointments can benefit students from all experience levels, beginner to advanced, so do yourself a favor, go the extra mile and gain in depth knowledge outside of the classroom. Each TPE's brings their unique technical and creative skills so there is no limit in sight. Please note, appointments are for learning purposes only, Learning Commons staff and Peer Educators will not edit work due for course assignments. Visit our appointments page for more information.
2. Techbyte Technical Workshops:
Need an in depth software introduction to get your creative juices going? You are not alone! Attend a workshop and bring a friend. Workshops are mini lessons for group audiences delivered by our TPEs throughout the year. Workshops are developed to support learning needs in specific courses at the request of course instructors and in response to feedback from students. Visit our Calendar which list upcoming workshops and related events.
We are there for you even outside the Learning Commons. Our program offers online help in the form of web tutorials. These tutorials are designed to be simple, step-by-step guides for beginners to learn about a series of creative design software. To further benefit students, we plan to recycle our workshop presentations into our tutorial page. Tutorials we've previously offered include Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Audacity, Flash, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects. Visit our tutorials page for more information.
