SIMPLE DESIGNS more  -->

Even simple designs follow the style and rules of traditional Northwest Coast two dimensional design. This design is found on the side of a box. Sometimes simple designs decorate skin bags (as seen above and to the right).

The simple designs, on the box above, decorate the four sides of one short dish. Note the flowing black primary form lines which define the design structure.

Below are some examples of similar boxes.

The traditional 'standard' box design features a central 'body' panel, ovoids representing eyes above, 'ear' fillers in the upper corners, and ovoids representing lower limbs in the lower corners. This design is found on the seven boxes to the left.
