About the Globalink Research Award

OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Mitacs Globalink Research Awards (GRA) program at SFU is to facilitate SFU researchers in initiating and/or deepening international research collaboration by leveraging outbound* research student mobility. The award provides opportunities for SFU graduate students** (Master’s or PhD) and SFU postdoctoral fellows to gain international research experience with universities abroad, while developing institutional relationships. 

*GRA inbound mobility (international interns travelling to SFU) will remain on hold at SFU until further notice. 

**SFU's GRA program is currently unavialble for SFU undergraduate students. 

 

APPLICATION

There is limited awards available for 2026-2027 Fiscal Year, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Annika Rosanowski, (arosanowski@mitacs.ca) at Mitacs directly. 

 

AWARD

SFU graduate students are eligible for:

  • One 12-24 weeks internships for $6,000 CAD; 
  • Two 12-24 weeks internships for $6,000 CAD each (total of $12,000); or
  • One 24-48 weeks internship for $12,000 CAD. 

 

ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES

  • Mitacs supports outbound mobility between Canada and all countries except those classified as “Avoid all travel” or “Avoid non-essential travel” by the Government of Canada
