SFU Math Lecturer's textbook solution becomes a worldwide hit

When a textbook for two classes in social sciences calculus was going out of print, Petra Menz began working on a project to provide an open and free textbook for SFU students and beyond. Enlisting the help of Nicola Mulberry and Hope Power, the online textbook is a great tool for students and teachers alike.

SFU’s Communications & Marketing team is always on the lookout for experts who can comment to the media about trending topics, new research, SFU inspired innovation and making a difference with community engagement. If you have an idea/topic, contact us at mediarelations@sfu.ca. For past examples, check out our media releases and issues & experts pitches. For March, we are looking for new research stories, or experts able to comment on:

  • COVID-19
  • UN Decade of Ocean Science (2021) or UN World Water Day (March 22)
  • International Womens’ Day (March 8)
  • UN International Day of Happiness (March 20)

Family Day

Please note all SFU campuses will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15th for this statutory holiday. Campus access as per COVID-19 regulations will resume the following day.

Roadway Interruption: Burnaby Campus

For those who will be travelling to Burnaby campus on February 16, please be aware that the section of University Drive West between West Campus Road and the West Parkade access lane will be closed that day to accomodate for Residence Phase 2 construction activity.

With this handbook, you'll learn what community-engaged research (CER) is, how it’s conducted and why it is valuable.
