Find your SFU holiday cheer on campus: Movie Nights, Community Dinners and more

December 19, 2022
While the campus may be quieter and some facilities may have reduced hours, there are still plenty of resources and events available at SFU over the winter holiday break.

The holiday season is upon us, and for those of us who are staying on campus during this time, it can be a unique experience.

While the campus may be quieter and some facilities may have reduced hours, there are still plenty of resources and events available. From community dinners and movie nights to basketball games and festive gatherings, there are many opportunities to come together and have fun.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:

Here are some events and activities organized by SFU to foster community and create some joy during the quiet, dark mountain winter.

Dinner on Christmas Eve Eve by Multifaith Centre

“The aim of the dinner is to create community and offer some food security to students who may not have places to go over the holidays, it is not faith-specific but rather an opportunity to enjoy food together,” says Multifaith Centre’s program co-ordinator Rachel Craft.

So, grab your ticket for this fun evening, invite a friend, perhaps put on a cozy festive sweater, and enjoy the delicious food.

Movie Night & Trivia

Watch The Princess Bride. Stay after to test your Princess Bride knowledge with some trivia.

Christmas Sunday Gathering

It is a faith gathering by a Christian faith group at the Multifaith Centre. Come celebrate the birth of Christ with a coffee and snack get-together on Sunday, December 25.

Rep the Leaf at SFU Basketball Games

Come out and watch elite NCAA basketball games hosted by SFU Athletics and Recreation on Thursday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 31, at West Gym.

Prepare ahead of time by checking out this list of food and dining options on campus.

If you're living on campus during the winter break, be sure to take advantage of the resources available to you to make the most of your time off.
