Winter Break Resources

Winter break is coming to SFU, which means reduced services from December 24 through January 1. During the break, there are resources in place to keep you supported and safe, and festive events to keep you connected.

Essential Services

These SFU services are available to support you during winter break.

MySSP (Student Support Program)
Phone & text support, available 24/7 and accessible anywhere in the world

Residence Front Desk 
December 24: Closes at 4:00 PM
December 25: Closed
December 26: Closed
December 27 to January 1: Reduced hours (TBA)
January 2: Resume regular hours

Please check the Severe Weather page and Road Report before you leave for campus.

Campus Public Safety 
CPS will be available 24 hours a day throughout the holiday season.

  • Call 9-1-1 in an emergency requiring immediate response by police, ambulance or fire; otherwise (or additionally) call the Urgent Line at 778.782.4500 (Emergency information).
  • If you notice suspicious activity or hazards such as large ice patches or water leaks, please call the non-urgent line at 778.782.7991.
  • If you are working alone in your workspace, initiate the Lone Worker Program .
  • Need company walking across campus? Call for a Safewalk.

Food & Restaurants

Campus is much quieter over the winter break and many stores and restaurants reduce their hours. Plan ahead for your food needs. Here are some of the on-campus food resources as well as the holiday hours for nearby shops.
