H.L. Holmes Award for Postdoctoral Studies
Opportunity
Application OPEN on January 12, 2026. Apply by March 20, 2026
The H.L Holmes Award, awarded by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), is a prestigious opportunity offered every two years to support exceptional postdoctoral research in fields related to medical or biological processes, including chemistry, physics, biology, or mathematics.
Benefit to selected candidates:
- Up to $100,000 per year for 1 to 2 years
- The opportunity to work with outstanding researchers
New this year
The 2027 competition includes updates to the application process to better highlight research projects. Along with submitting their research proposal, applicants can now include:
- A knowledge mobilization plan (how their work will be shared and applied)
- An impact statement (the potential benefits and significance of their research)
- An optional candidate statement (their personal perspective and motivation)
