April 4, 2022: Updates and reflections

Thank you to everyone who has participated in SFU: What’s Next? by sharing your thoughts with me on ThoughtExchange.

I want to share an update on this process, as well as reflect on our first two ThoughtExchange questions: What SFU moments make you proud? and What differences should SFU make in the world around us?

Several themes emerged from your answers that I found particularly interesting.

For example, many of you shared that you think SFU should be making a difference in the world by collaborating with Indigenous peoples to decolonize our systems and structures, as well as by leading the fight against climate change. And many of your proudest SFU moments have involved seeing our students cross the stage at convocation and the impact of our ground-breaking research. I especially enjoyed reading about the pride we have taken in becoming a more inclusive university.

Thank you all for sharing and participating.

For the next two weeks, we continue the discussion on ThoughtExchange with two more big questions:

We want you to share your thoughts in the way that works best for you, so today we’re also launching an SFU: What’s Next? survey—another way for you to engage.

However you choose to participate, I can't wait to hear from you as we continue our community conversation about What’s Next for SFU.
