Children's Positive Emotions Study

Do you wonder how conversations with your child affect the way they feel and behave? Join our study to help us find out!

This online study takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. You will engage in a parent-child discussion about stories, your child will participate in an individual interview where they will play interactive games, hear stories, and answer questions about those stories, and you will complete a survey. You will be thanked for your time with a $25 DoorDash gift card and a $5 Amazon gift card for your child’s efforts. 

Participant criteria: Parents and their children ages 6 to 9 years old, families must reside in British Columbia, parents must be fluent in English, and children must be able to understand and speak English. Families must have two devices with audio and video functionality (e.g., smartphone and computer).

Child Development and Digital  Media Project

Digital media is a big part of most of our daily lives. We want to understand how digital media affects children's social-emotional development and family life. This study takes approximately 150 minutes in total to complete. Parents and children will engage in discussions, hear stories, and answer questions independently. As a token of our appreciation, families will receive up to $60 and a gift.

Participant criteria: Children ages 10 to 12 years old, families must reside in British Columbia, be English-fluent, be willing to visit SFU Burnaby Campus (we offer free parking), and have two devices at home (one with audio/video).
