About Riya

Riya leads the development and delivery of communications, marketing, and events for Renewable Cities' programs, strategies, and initiatives. She works at the intersection of storytelling and content development, helping translate complex research and policy ideas around climate action, housing, mobility, and urban sustainability into formats that are accessible and grounded.

Riya holds a Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Business and a Certificate in Sustainable Community Development from Simon Fraser University. She brings experience in digital storytelling and event coordination within academic and public-sector environments, with a particular interest in equity-centered approaches to cities, systems change, and community engagement.

Fluent in four Indian languages, Riya brings a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and storytelling to her work, and strives to live a low-consumption lifestyle. Outside of work, she enjoys being near or in the water, going on hikes, and spending time in nature..
